In this article the author goes to a fashion show where she plans to meet her idol Elaine Welteroth, the Editor in Chief of Teen Vogue Magazine. Welteroth is the youngest and first black female to have this position at Teen Vogue, and she has used it to completely change the content that you would typically see in the magazine. While still including some of the basic articles Teen Vogue specializes in, she has begun to introduce information about things such as politics and world events. She also strives to make the magazine more diverse by including people of all colors, shapes, and sizes. I think that younger girls are part of the audience, but more specifically younger girls that are a part of minority groups that feel like they are underrepresented by fashion magazines. Hughes does not just report about her idol but talks of her experience meeting Welteroth from a firsthand perspective. She talks about how people often consider the journalism that is in Teen Vogue not "real" journalism and how Welteroth has begun to change that.
